Tom Ford doesn’t wear underwear. In fact, he’s notorious for going commando. But if you has thought that would stop the Texan-designer from producing a synonymous underwear line, you would be wrong. Just last year, the designer launched Tom Ford Underwear during his Autumn/Winter 2018 show, sending models down the runway in nothing but the collection, with matching socks, of course.
Perhaps it’s Ford’s fearless spirit that makes him just so damn good at what he does. Perhaps we should all be a little bit more like Tom Ford. All over the world, the designer has an established reputation as the best of the best. Everything Tom Ford touches turns to gold, from cosmetics, womenswear and men’s tailoring. If you have ever owned or encountered a Tom Ford garment, you would know it’s a sight to behold.
At the time of the launch, Ford told i-D Vice he wanted to apply the same vigour he puts into his extravagant evening wear and replicate it within men’s underwear.
“I thought, well women shop for special underwear when they’ve got a hot date, and know they’re going to get underdressed. So why shouldn’t a guy think, I’ve got a hot date tonight, I’m going to wear my silver metallic underwear,” he said, “you have to perform after you’ve worn silver underwear. It’s setting yourself up. Why not?”

In true Tom Ford style, the collection finds the perfect balance of his signature tongue-in-cheek style and sophistication. Equal parts luxurious and comfortable, we guarantee you won’t ever want to take them off (we strongly advise against this, however).
Designed with the suave gentleman in mind, the collection consists of three key offerings; the brief, the boxer brief and the boxer. A collection that’s made to be seen, there’s striking varieties including the silk leopard boxers or nude hues designed to elevate your daily rotation. Each cut is available in cotton stretch jersey, cotton, and for those extra special occasions, silk. Each pair also features the designer’s TOM FORD logo stamp of approval, featured on the stretch waistband in signature velvet.
Prices range from $79 for pure cottons, through to $359 for silk and print.
