Intended irreverence for Acne Studios Men’s SS20

At the very core of Acne Studios is the desire to push the boundaries of the fashion landscape through experimentation with fabric, construction and technique. For his spring/summer ’20 collection, creative director Jonny Johansson wanted to connect with the original spirit of Acne Studios – indeed, Acne stands for “Ambition to Create Novel Expressions”.

In a press release, Johansson said of the collection: “Acne Studios has always been a place of experimentation, on which we have built solid foundations. It made me think of a student at art school, using its traditions to push somewhere new.”

Embodying a feeling of irreverence as art students often do, the collection appears effortless, exploring the visual field through detail and unconventional textiles. Open seams, transparent acetate and deconstructed knitwear reveal glimpses of the human body underneath, with jewellery is held together by cable ties.

Seasonal staples include an update to the overshirt, a new renaissance horse print and the signature logo neck tee in a pastel colour palette.
