Alireza’s style guide

Alireza’s style guide

Now more than ever, we are witnessing a metamorphosis of modern lifestyle, particularly in the sartorial approach to menswear.  The notion of versatility has arisen to be a key factor in the composition of daily dress, as a gentleman may manoeuvre seamlessly between the formal and informal, from day to evening, from business to leisure.

Enter the harmonious balance of Italian sartorial stalwarts, Lardini.

The Lardini family are purveyors of versatile soft-tailoring pieces

The Lardini family are purveyors of versatile soft-tailoring pieces, creating near nonchalant looks underpinned by technical detail and premium quality textiles. Lardini is distinguished not only by their poised silhouettes, but also the signature flower logo sewn on to the suiting lapels.

In parallel formation to the house of Harrolds itself, the Lardini fashion house is a family owned and operated entity, born in 1978 in the Italian commune of Filottrano, where the business is headquartered to this day.

Esteemed Harrolds MelbourneTailoring Manager Alireza Shakoori guides us through building an array of top-to-toe looks using interchangeable Lardini pieces from the Harrolds inventory, showcasing the adaptability of key pieces.

The Cosmo Suit is constructed from 100% wool, lined with a viscose and cupro blend. The 2-button jacket features a peak lapel and barchetta pocket, paired with flat-front pants, both enhanced by the maize-like hue. Lightweight yet durable, this 2-piece is a 4-season affair.

Pictured here in tandem with the Cosmo suit is the Imalvaro vertical stripe shirt, constructed from 100% Italian cotton twill and finished with Australian mother-of-pearls buttons.

Levelling up to a more formal occasion, Alireza has selected the classic deep-brown Granadine tie, made from 100% silk gauze. The 6.5cm blade width creates an aura of subtle distinction when integrated in to the overall look.

Utilising the jacket from the Cosmo suit, Alireza shows us how to interpolate this in to a more relaxed yet composed look. Pictured here is the chambray denim Diego shirt, with full cutaway collar, adding a soft and vibrant touch.

Switching out the traditional tie, here Alireza has incorporated the burgundy and dark-mustard Lardini neckerchief, complete with Lardini flower monogram. This 100% wool neckerchief has ample room to tie lengths and knots at your own discretion, should you wish to add a touch of personal flair.

Working across all looks is the sartorial must-have, the pocket square. Made from 100% wool with a gauze mesh, this lightweight piece adds a vibrant, merry charm whilst still echoing a sentiment of traditional heritage menswear.

Following the running theme of earthy tones, Alireza switches out the maize trousers for the moss green flat-front 100% wool pants. This palette is not just an autumnal favourite, but a year-round combination that promotes the essence of cool, calm and collected.

Once again retaining the Cosmo jacket as the staple piece, Alireza shows us how to pair it back further with a simple denim and tee combination, echoing the effortless cool of bygone icons such as Steve McQueen and Serge Gainsbourg.

Pictured is the high-waisted Lardini denim with precision tapered cut, culminating in a 17cm leg opening. This washed indigo pair is complete with classic denim elements such as button-fly and 5-pocket design, and is perfect for everyday rotation. No gentleman’s wardrobe is complete without a staple denim.

The Lardini white tee is another all-rounder, made from 100% mercerized cotton with a delicate feel, offering trans-seasonal appeal whether layered or standalone.

Integrated across all 3 looks is the copper-brown woven Lardini belt with genuine leather ends and silver buckle detail.

The importance of accessorizing cannot be understated in the art of menswear, with key elements such as the belt, tie and pocket square giving rise to the influence of colour and shape across the broader head-to-toe look. To quote the late architect, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, “god is in the details”.

With a new frontier upon us, the gentleman of today should seek key investment pieces which can be styled in a multitude of ways. Lardini embodies this adaptability in a luxurious light. Having been a mainstay at the house of Harrolds for the last 8 years, Lardini encompasses hallmark attributes of traditional sartorialism whilst catering for the modern man’s sensibility.
