5 local wellness destinations to visit now

We’ve dressed ourselves, our dinner parties and our homes for the summer of frocked-up frolicking, lavish events and celebratory reunions ahead. Now comes the pre-Christmas escapades that leave us feeling a little exasperated, burnt out and tired-eyed. In the name of self-cultivation and a hedonistic escapism, Harrolds has rounded up five of the most inspired and impeccably-styled stalwarts for wellness in Australia.

As we inch towards another lap around the sun, consider an appointment (for yourself or another deserving candidate) at one of the incantatory destinations below. From mindful lunging to liberating massages, this is a call to hiatus.

The Blow Australia

After a few years of their Little Collins Street tenure, the hair maestros of The Blow Australia have taken their dry styling prowess to the aisles of SEPHORA in Sydney. The Melbourne-hailing mothership in Melbourne is a veritable palace of pink, constructed in the name of good hair, good hustle (inscribed in a neon sign in the centre of the studio) and good community. Founder Phoebe Simmonds first established The Blow to answer the early morning door-to-desk-dash hair woes of the city’s fabulous working professionals. There’s no cuts, no colour, no muss and no fuss –  just really lofty and luscious dry or wet-styled va va voomery. Now, The Blow has expanded its preening and pampering repertoire to include brow and lash tints, brow waxing and brow laminating in a one-stop shop for self-grooming made fun (and easy).

Little Company

Split between Melbourne’s metropolis and Byron Bay’s breezy paradiso, Little Company is a boutique beauty studio specialising in all things skin. Founder Stacey Burt has crafted a two-pronged treatment system, split into ‘Remedy’ and ‘Ritual’, with the former being a deeply nourishing facial for all, and the latter existing to provide a tailored, tactical approach to an individual’s skin tropes. Expect self-cultivation rituals that revive the tired notion of mindfulness, encourage daily intention-setting and bring back the joy of celebrating oneself in our most bare, natural forms.

Buff Nail Studios

Resplendent is the word that springs to mind when describing the halls of Buff Nail Studios on Brighton’s iconic Church Street. With the groundswell of technicolour tips and reverse French manicuring, as well as a newfound embrace of bold, brightly-hued talons, this cleverly-designed, playful studio pays homage to the new way of doing beauty. Gone are the days of the sterile nail salon with Buff hitting the scene in a flurry of decadent seating, velveteen upholstery, concrete walls and amber mood-lighting.
